AUSTIN'S ALLIANCE
Committed to completing Austin's work
Austin’s Alliance of Athletes is named in memory of Austin Vertrees, who passed away July 17, 2015 of an opiate overdose. Austin loved the game of baseball. He graduated from Big Walnut High School in 2012, and furthered his education at Mansfield OSU, where he also played on the baseball team. His passion for the game continued as he also played for the Mansfield Mavericks in the summer intercollegiate league. Austin was intelligent and talented, loved people, experienced a loving and supportive family, yet pain in his life led to him trying opiates. Despite numerous attempts to quit, this proved an obstacle that was too large for him to overcome. Austin wanted to become a teacher and coach and help young people avoid the dangers that he experienced.
